Don Page Welcomes The Opening Of The Bangalow Sports Fields (15/05/2009)
Member for Ballina, Don Page congratulates the Bangalow Sports Association and welcomes the opening of the new sports fields in Bangalow tomorrow, Saturday 16th May.
“This project has been made possible by the combined efforts of a number of groups including the Bangalow Sports Association, Byron Shire Council and NSW Sport & Recreation,” Mr Page said.
“I lobbied Minister Graham West for the $200,000 grant. I was pleased the Minister visited Bangalow and came on site to announce the funding in January last year,” he said.
“This is a much needed facility at a very popular venue for sport. This extension will be warmly welcomed by not only the sporting groups represented by the Bangalow Sports Association, but all visiting sporting teams in the area who will use the facility during the course of competition.”
“Many other community groups have been instrumental in bringing this project to fruition. They include Bangalow Landcare, Bangalow Lions and local businesses who supported the project by providing materials at cost and free labour.
“All up, the new sports fields cost around $600,000,” Mr Page said.
