Labor Steals Another Coalition Policy (02/04/2009)
The NSW Labor Government’s announcement today that CEOs of Government agencies would have their ability to cut red tape treated as a key performance indicator is another direct lift of Coalition Policy from the last election, Shadow Minister for Small Business and Regulatory Reform, Don Page said today.
“The Minister for Regulatory Reform, Joe Tripodi, announced this policy in Question Time today. It is a direct lift from Coalition policy from the 2007 election,” Mr Page said.
The relevant Coalition policy stated:
“A NSW Liberal/Nationals Coalition Government will make reducing red tape a key performance indicator for each agency and CEO. The focus of departmental and agency CEOs must shift from increasing regulation to reducing the regulatory burden.” (P3)
“This Labor Government has no new ideas on cutting red tape. After 14 years in Government they have run out of energy for the task,” Mr Page said.
“This is the latest example of a lazy Government whose only contribution to good policy is to steal the Coalitions’,” he said.
“This measure should have been implemented at least 2 years ago,” Mr Page said.
